Home :: Top 3 Questions To AsktThe Top 3 Questions You Should Ask Before Booking Any Grad Night HypnotistThis years all night grad party is the most important night of the year for most grads. It's a time to celebrate and have fun. It will be, perhaps, the last time that they will be together as a group. It's an important night. And you only have one night to get it right! As a planner, you want to ensure that your students are safe and sober. You want to make sure that the events that they participate in will be a huge success so that you can build on the reputation for next year's all night grad party. Professional stage hypnotist Blair Robertson has been performing shows for 22 years and has made over 2000 appearances worldwide. He gives three simple questions to ask to ensure a successful and memorable hypnosis show. Here's three important questions you should ask when booking your prospective hypnotist or agency: 1. Is the hypnotist a full-time performer with proven experience? The grad season is a busy time for performers as the demand far exceeds the supply. Because of this, part-time performers and hypnotherapists will often jump on the bandwagon to "grab some quick cash". Horror stories abound. "I worked a grad party last year where the previous hypnotist couldn't hypnotize a single student," says Robertson. "Even though the school didn't have to pay for the guy, it left a lot of students and parents upset." Robertson says that generally speaking, a person who performs full time will often be skilled to handle any situation and assure a smooth running performance. But check the references first. Most booking agencies are very reputable and won't risk sending in a newbie. But there are a few who will hire someone new to the business and charge a huge markup to the user. You can't base it on the fee. You must ask and check the references to protect yourself. Tip: A reputable agent will be delighted to have an intelligent buyer and will be more than willing to provide you the "proof". 2. What kind of routines does the performer do?Safety first. If the hypnotist advertises the 'human bridge'--a routine where a person is placed between two chairs and stood upon--run! "Any hypnotist who advertises that students will run around, or that has assistants to 'protect' the volunteers is a hypnotist looking for a lawsuit," says Robertson. He adds, "a pro will not need any help what-so-ever as the show will be one hundred percent safe in the first place." Robertson also points out that you should ask for liability insurance. Most amatures will not invest the money to get full insurance of at least 2 million dollars liability. A pro shouldn't need it, but will have it for everyone's peace-of-mind. 3. What are the technical requirements?A pro will offer a turn-key solution. A professional will normally only require an audience and some chairs for volunteers to sit on. That's it. In most cases, a professional will carry his or her own sound equipment and will load in and out without assistance. A professional will understand that you have hundreds of other things on your mind as well as knowing that the success or failure of the event will reflect on you. SummaryDon't book a performer with low (or even high) fees without checking to make sure they can provide you with the peace of mind you'll need on the night of the party. Only by taking a few minutes to check can you ensure a safe and memorable party.
